Os habéis preguntado alguna cúanto campo necesitamos para alimentarnos? Este interesante video nos dice que es 2600m2. Aunque algunos estimen que es una simplificación un poco inexacta.

La verdad que estaría bien es saber cuanto necesitamos para los demás bienes de consumo…papel, muebles, ropa,etc.

Have you ever thought about how much land is needed to feed us? This interesting videu show us that is 2600m2, although some people think that they are inexact.

It could be nice if we can know how much land we need for the others goods… paper, furniture, clothes..

Hemeroscopium House es el proyecto de Antón García-Abril Ruiz & Ensamble Studio, construida en Madrid.

Un año de trabajo y siete días de construcción gracias a la utilización de elementos estructurales prefabricados, a la perfecta coordinación en el ensamblaje de los elementos y sobre todo, gracias a un cálculo preciso y un trabajo previo impecable. Uno de los grandes logros de la arquitectura de nuestros tiempos. “Una gran belleza de simplicidad conceptual”.

El orden en que las vigas están situadas genera una forma helicoidal, una espiral ascendente con elementos que van aligerándose conforme crece la estructura, culminando con una piedra de granito que logra el perfecto equilibrio del conjunto.

The order in which these structures are piled up generates a helix that sets out from a stable support, the mother beam, and develops upwards in a sequence of elements that become lighter as the structure grows, closing on a granite stone that culminates the system of equilibrium.

Este es el tercer Concurso de Arquitectura Avanzada organizado por el centro Iaac desde 2005. La primera competición, con el tema Self-Sufficient Housing y la segunda, Self-Fab House , demostraron el potencial de internet como medio de investigación arquitectónica.

Este año, el tercer Concurso de Arquitectura Avanzada, con el tema Self Sufficient City, acaba de publicar sus resultados. Han sido evaluadas 708 propuestas de 116 países a través de internet, desde octubre hasta diciembre de 2009.

En cada edición, el concurso nos trae una nueva publicación, con una selección de las mejores propuestas de los participantes.

This is the third Advanced Architecture Contest to be organized by the IaaC since 2005. The first competition, on the theme of Self-Sufficient Housing, and the second one, Self-Fab House, clearly demonstrated the potential of the Internet as a medium for researching new architecture.

This year, the third Advanced Architecture Contest, on the theme Self Sufficient City, has published the results. 708 proposals from 116 countries were evaluated through the internet from October to December (2009).

In each edition, contest bring us a new publication with a selection of the best proposals.

String theory continues to divide the scientific community; while many scientists believe we’re on the right track with this line of thinking, others believe we’re on a wild goose chase that will never amount to anything. As an untested and rather complicated theory, it seems to confuse more non-scientists than it enlightens. But for all of the controversy and confusion, string theorists are still plugging along, trying to make sense out of life, the universe and everything. And thanks to some ambitious individuals like Rob Bryanton, there are now some (relatively) easy to understand explanations of string theory out there.

La teoría de cuerdas continúa dividiendo la comunidad científica; mientras muchos científicos creen que estamos en el camino correcto de desarrollo, otros creen que estamos en una espiral que no lleva a nada, por su imposibilidad de falsearla. Por su complicación parece que confunde en vez de aclarar a los no-científicos. Pero los científicos que apuesta por la teoría de cuerdas se lo están currando, y gracias a contribuciones personales como la de Rob Bryanton, ahora son un poquito más fáciles de entender.

BEING PROCESS-ORIENTED, not product-driven

Being process-oriented means:

1. seeking to understand a design problem before chasing after solutions.

2. not force-fitting solutions to old problems onto new problems

3. removing yourself from prideful investment in your projects and being slow to fall in love with your ideas.

4. making design investigations and decisions holistically (that address severak asoects if a desugb orivken at ibce) rather than a sequentiallly (that finalize one aspect of a solution before investigating the next);

5. making design decisions conditionallly-that is, with the aeareness that they may or may not work out as you continue toward a final solution;

6. knowing when to change and when to stick with previous decisions,

7. accepting as normal the anxiety that comes from not knowing what to do.

8. working fluidly beetween concept-scale and detail-sclae to see how each informs the other.

9. always asking ” What if..? regardless of how satisfied you are with your solution..

The city of Valencia is located on the east coast of the Iberian peninsula. It is the third most populous

city in Spain, some 800,000 inhabitants. Its geography is distinguished by one of the most extensiv

eand productive area of orchard in Spain and by the Turia River that flows into the city.

The project involves the regeneration of the old riverbed. This becomes a linear garden that runs

along the city, positively changing their configuration

On 14 October 195 / the biggest river flood in the twentieth century became one of the greatest

tragedies in the history of the city, about 100 deaths (*1). The government of Spain and the municipality

of Valencia Turia decided that the river could not go through the center of Valencia because

the danger of further flooding. So in 1958 he decided to move the river into a new riverbed. This

master plan was called Plan Sur.

Some intellectual sectors began to timdly disagree. Only after the death of Dictator Franco civic

campaign was launched under the slogan “El llit del Túria és nostre i el volem verd.” (“The Turia Riverbed

is ours and we want it green”) This civic platform pushed until 1979, with a long delay, the

new democratic council classified definitively the old riverbed as a green area.

El Plan Sur (South Plan) , approved by the Council of Ministers in 1961, proposed some terrible

speedways thorugh the former riverbed, and other uses in different segments: residential, commercial,

industrial, and also the new Railway Central Station.

Some magazines of the time had so shocking and without any critical view, they did some figurations

of the project, referred to as an element of progress for the city. (*2)

The Catalan architect Ricardo Bofill was commissioned by the City of Valencia to prepare the master

plan for using the old Turia riverbed. (*3) He also designed the garden section of the noble area of

the city, The team “Vetges Tú- Mediterrania” designed a section including sports facilities and some

equipements. The Department of Agriculture designed the section of the “Urban Forest” by putting

thousands of pines …. Among other things the park has also integrated the City of Arts and Sciences

Over the years it has been completing the old course, while the city grew to the sea. And it has

become one of the most visited parks in Valencia and Spain, loved by the people of Valencia and a

great success for the city layout.(*4)

La ciudad de Valencia está situada en la costa este de la península Ibérica. Es la tercera más poblada en España, unos 800.000 habitantes. Su geografía se caracteriza por una de las más extensas y productivas huertas de España y por el río Turia que desemboca en la ciudad.

El proyecto consiste en la regeneración del antiguo cauce del río Turia, que pasa a convertirse en un jardín lineal que transcurre a lo largo de la ciudad cambiando su configuración positivamente

La inundación del 14 de octubre 1957, la más grande en el siglo XX, se convirtió en una de los mayores

tragedias en la historia de la ciudad, cerca de 100 muertes. El gobierno de España y el ayntamiento de Valencia

Valencia decidió que el río no podía pasar por el centro de Valencia, debido al

peligro de nuevas inundaciones. Así, en 1958 se decidió trasladar el río en un cauce nuevo. Este proyecto fue llamado Plan Sur.

El Plan Sur (Plan Sur), aprobado por el Consejo de Ministros en 1961, propuso una terrible autopista en el antiguo cauce del río, y otros usos en los diferentes segmentos: residencial, comercial, industriales, y también la nueva estación central de trenes.

Algunas revistas de la época hicieron representaciones impactante y sin ningún punto de vista crítico del proyecto, conocido como un elemento de progreso para la ciudad. (Foto 1)

Algunos sectores intelectuales comenzaron tímidamente a discrepar . Sólo después de la muerte del dictador Franco, se lanzó una plataforma cívica con mucha fuerza ”El llit del Túria és nostre i el volem verd.” (El Turia es nuestro y lo queremos verde “) Esta plataforma cívica presionó hasta que 1979, con un largo retraso, el Consejo de Valencia, ya democrático, clasificó definitivamente el antiguo cauce del río como zona verde.

El arquitecto catalán Ricardo Bofill, fue encargado por el Ayuntamiento de Valencia para preparar el master

plan para utilizar el antiguo cauce del río Turia. (* 3) Asimismo, creó el tramo de jardín de la zona noble de la

de la ciudad, El equipo “Vetges Tu-Mediterrània” diseñó un tramo, incluyendo las instalaciones deportivas y algunas

equipamientos. El Departamento de Agricultura diseñado la sección del “Bosque Urbano”, plantando

de miles de pinos …. Entre otras cosas, el parque también ha integrado la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias

diseñado por el polémico Santiago Calatrava.

Con los años se ha completado el curso del río , mientras que la ciudad creció hacia el mar. Y se ha

convertido en uno de los parques más visitados de Valencia y España, querido por la gente de Valencia y de

OCAÑA DE ESPAÑA

Muchos afirman que este proyecto se utiliza la ironía y un sentido ácido del humor. Pero yo creo que no. Simplemente está investigando, prueba un nuevo rol de arquitecto en este tiempo de búsqueda de identidad. Es algo más científico que artístico…

1. En arquitectura, la opinión pública no es una propuesta, es una orden.

El arquitecto es un médium de la ideología del status quo. No debe de tomar decisiones propias. Debe hacer visible la voluntad humana mediante la condensación de opiniones.

El gasto de energía profesional empleada en tratar de manipular a la opinión pública es siempre insostenible e ilegítimo.

2. La arquitectura representa lo que la sociedad presenta.

La representación mediante un repertorio validado es la principal atribución profesional. El repertorio arquitectónico validado tiene carácter normativo.

3. El lenguaje arquitectónico es una prerrogativa social.

La imagen definitiva de los edificios es propiedad de un consumidor final alérgico al asombro. El lenguaje se debe extraer del pensamiento arquitectonico para otorgárselo en tributo a la comunidad correspondiente.

4. La arquitectura es importación desde el pensamiento colectivo, pensar en exportación es prepotencia.

La verdadera cultura brota del hombre común. Las virtudes compartidas, como la bondad esencial y los valores educativos, deben de importarse a la arquitectura. Tratar de exportar pensamiento propio a la sociedad es ostentación de inteligencia. Algo tan vulgar como exhibir riqueza.

5. La Estadística no son datos, son leyes.

No gobierna la imaginación o la razón sino las encuestas públicas. La interpretación de la estadística es un fin, no una herramienta, porque sus conclusiones son siempre un valor seguro. En arquitectura no se corren riesgos.

6. La burocracia no es un obstáculo, es un aliado.

En auxilio del ciudadano el Estado puede exigir al arquitecto cantidad de tiempo, pensamiento, dinero, esfuerzo y obediencia. Las habilidades del arquitecto deben de ser comerciales y burócratas. La calidad no puede ser un motivo impulsor porque estamos protegidos por Los Códigos Técnicos y los nuevos intermediarios improductivos. Estos nuevos agentes permiten homogeneizar resultados para defender el bienestar comunitario.

7. La opinión de la comunidad vale más que el juicio de un arquitecto.

Debemos amar las opiniones y despreciar los juicios. Ni los miles de arquitectos que construyen millones de metros cuadrados, ni los millones de compradores que pagan cientos de miles de euros por ellos, pueden estar equivocados.
